Laredo United to File Grievance Against UISD

The COVID crisis has created for now the need for distant learning through online instruction. United ISD and our teachers and staff have done an excellent job transitioning from face-to-face classroom instruction to remote teaching from home. From the creation of online curricula and the scheduling of classes to the training on how to use specialized computer programs and other tools essential for effective online instruction, the administration, faculty, and staff have done a good job in bringing all these elements together. Will this situation continue come the Fall semester? We just don’t know. The district, however, now want teachers to use their personal property like cell phones, personal computers, and internet service by requiring that through contractual changes and board action to conduct school business in the up-coming school year.

WE DON’T AGREE. There are personal privacy and FERPA issues not to mention financial costs as well. Therefore, Laredo United TSTA/NEA will be filing a grievance on behalf of all our members.
